Pre-K-16 School Improvement

As educators, political officials, and business leaders forge partnerships to strengthen educational achievement from preschool through college, many turn to MI Evaluation Services for assistance. We work with educational providers, policymakers, and employers on diverse projects to improve the pre-K-16 system. We evaluate program implementation and impact using experimental and quasi-experimental research; design and administer customized surveys; disseminate research-based information through the Sharing Success delivery system; and provide targeted technical assistance in program planning, development, and implementation.

Teacher Quality

In today’s complex teaching environments, recruiting, supporting, and retaining the best teachers is a key component of program success. MI Evaluation Services has studied many aspects of teacher quality, ranging from the design and organization of professional development programs to the evaluation of teacher incentive plans. We develop workshops, training materials, and assessments; publish research briefs; and conduct major evaluation studies to promote teacher effectiveness and ultimately student success.

Youth Development

All participants must work collaboratively to unlock the program strategies that best serve our young people, especially those at risk of dropping out of school. MI Evaluation Services is a leader in this area, guiding clients to embrace effective approaches for connecting youth to school and preparing them for future success. We are respected nationally for our research syntheses on the achievement gap as it surfaces in test scores, graduation rates, and college enrollment.

Health and Health Education

Creating an environment that fosters the healthy development and safety of children and youth is one of the most important responsibilities of any community. MI Evaluation Services has been in the forefront of supporting this goal through evaluation, measurement, and technical assistance services. We have a highly respected work portfolio focused on school health and prevention programs, community-based prevention programs, state-sponsored health initiatives, regional health training institutes, and other health endeavors.

Special Education

Recent education laws—such as the reauthorization of IDEA—have put the needs of students with disabilities front and center. Our work—framed by an exceptionally strong background in special education—helps state, district, and school leaders to think and act systemically to improve the educational outcomes of students with special needs. We conduct high-profile studies that help shape state special education policy including studies of class size, disproportionality/equity, preschool efficacy, least restrictive environment, and alternate assessments.

Adult Education

The adult education field has made considerable progress in meeting the varied needs of our nation’s adults. Still, millions of Americans lack the literacy skills needed to succeed in the workforce and the community. For 30+ years, MI Evaluation Services has supported numerous federal, state, and local agencies in their efforts to create effective adult education and workforce development programs.
