Cost Accountant

Salary Range: $70,000 to $75,000 annually

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Cost Accountant with experience in Request for Proposal (RFP) processes to join our team. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for analyzing and reporting on financial data and supporting the RFP process to ensure accurate and competitive pricing proposals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, cost analysis, and RFP management, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and report on cost data to support pricing decisions, cost reduction initiatives, and profitability analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in NC and NY to support the RFP process, including reviewing RFP requirements, preparing cost models, and ensuring compliance with financial and contractual obligations.
  • Provide financial analysis and support for new business opportunities, including pricing strategies and profitability assessments.
  • Monitor and analyze production costs, and other related financial data.
  • Work with Controller and CFO to review and update financial reports, including variance analysis, cost trends, and budget vs. actual performance.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of cost accounting policies and procedures.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to cost accounting and RFP pricing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CMA certification is a plus.
  • Proven experience (2-5 years) as a Cost Accountant, Cost Analyst, or similar role, with a strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices.
  • Demonstrated (2-5 years) experience in managing RFP processes, including cost modeling, pricing analysis, and proposal development.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis, cost estimation, and variance analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience in Oracle-NetSuite a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • It is an in-office position. The office is situated in the downtown Durham area.
